You can empathize with others' concerns, but you are not responsible when you choose to take care of yourself.

Everyone has their own opinions in life, and they are free to express their own views and opinions. However, in some cases, someone will inevitably try to convince you to do things their way.

In these situations, setting boundaries is the only option you have. Loved ones might be frustrated when you do that, but it is unnecessary to sacrifice your own bliss to satisfy them.

If you know someone is likely to trigger you or get upset when you set boundaries, prepare a strategy beforehand to ensure you react appropriately and then leave the conversation if it gets tense before you become agitated.

It is difficult to think clearly when you are nervous and anxious at the moment. Therefore, establish a plan beforehand. Setting boundaries with specific individuals will always be awkward and sometimes challenging at first, but they will get easier over time and with practice.

Not everyone can set boundaries when they’re a people-pleaser, especially if they are afraid to do so. Just be patient. Observe what makes it difficult for you to set boundaries and formulate strategies to get past that barrier.

While it may not always be valid, setting boundaries is great, even if it's not done right. It is crucial that you are happy. Be open about boundaries you wish to establish. If necessary, write them down to remind yourself!

Always remember that even if your boundaries are clear, you still may get push back from those around you. This doesn't mean that you are disrespectful. You can empathize with others' concerns, but you are not responsible when you choose to take care of yourself.
