Britney Spears is pushing forward with her bid to end the conservatorship over her professional and personal life.

As reported by TMZ, the pop superstar’s attorney officially filed paperwork to dissolve the legal mandate without undergoing a medical exam.

A week ago, Britney made a statement that was more explosive than anyone expected; one in which she called the conservatorship "abusive" and made clear that it was causing her deep distress.

The “Toxic” songstress stressed that she’s not here to be anyone’s slave and had less than endorsing words about her father Jamie Spears.

In the event the filing is uncontested, Britney could have her wish granted to her. There are those who maintain that the conservatorship should remain in place, however, and legal commentators are preparing for a challenge.

It is ultimately up to the presiding judge to make the final decision. Meanwhile, Britney has faced a barrage of celebrity support in the days following her testimony, including Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, and Justin Timberlake.
