Jamie Spears, Britney Spears' father, has reportedly agreed to resign as her conservator.

This is a major victory for the Pop Princess who has been under conservatorship for over a decade.

On Thursday, Jamie filed a response to Britney's petition for his suspension in Los Angeles Superior Court, indicating his resignation, as reported by Variety.

A timetable for his resignation was not given, but he expressed willingness to cooperate with the court on a transition.

Jamie's filing also stated that some matters must be resolved before he can officially hand the helm over.

As a reason for his resignation, his lawyer cited his public battle with Britney but asserted that there was no basis for suspending him or removing him.

Last June, Britney described her conservatorship as "abusive" and accused her father of exerting too much control over her.

"I told the whole world I'm OK and I'm happy — it's a lie," Britney told the court. "I'm not happy. I can't sleep. I'm so angry it's insane, and I'm depressed."

According to the singer, she also wants to sue her family for how she has been treated.

"I shouldn't be in a conservatorship if I can work and provide money for myself and pay other people," Britney noted. "The laws should change."

As a result of the conservatorship, she also cannot get married or have a child, Britney said.
