On Tuesday, Britney Spears' father James "Jamie" Spears filed a petition to end the Pop Princess' conservatorship.

This is a significant victory for Britney, whose estate was controlled by her father for over 13 years.

In Jamie's petition to Los Angeles Superior Court, he asserts that Britney "is entitled to have this Court now seriously consider whether this conservatorship is no longer required."

Moreover, the filing further noted that Britney's circumstances have changed to the point that conditions for establishing a conservatorship have no longer been met.

Britney has tried to get her father removed from her case twice in the last two years.

A year ago, the singer said that she is unwilling to perform while he maintains any degree of control over her.

In her June 23 testimony to Judge Brenda Penny, Britney said her father ruined her life and evinced great pleasure in watching her in pain as he exercised his power over her.
