'Squid Game' Creator Hwang Dong Hyuk Confirms Season 2 Will Happen

"Squid Game" is a massive hit internationally. The popularity of the Netflix's series hasn't yet waned.

A cliffhanger ending and an exciting first season have led viewers to expect updates about a second season. Hwang Dong Hyuk, creator of the show, has heard the fans clearly.

So here's an update, courtesy of an interview with The Associated Press when some of the cast and crew from "Squid Game" were in Los Angeles, California, for the 2021 Art+Film Gala organized by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).

Hwang said, "So there’s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice!"

"But I will say there will indeed be a second season," he added. "It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently."

The project is still in the early stages at the moment, so there cannot be much information at this point. In addition, he wouldn't reveal spoilers.

However, Hwang can assure fans they will get a lot more of the character Gi Hun - also known as Player 456 - played by Lee Jung Jae.
