1 pound ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 28-ounce can crushed tomatoes
1 6-ounce can tomato paste
1/2 cup beef broth
1/2 cup red wine
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon sugar
9 lasagna noodles
1 cup ricotta cheese
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated


1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. In a large saucepan over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Add the onion and garlic and cook until the vegetables are tender.

3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, red wine, basil, oregano, parsley, salt, pepper, and sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes.

4. Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to the package instructions. Drain the noodles and rinse them under cold water to stop the cooking process.

5. In a small bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, 1/2 cup of the mozzarella cheese, and 1/4 cup of the Parmesan cheese.

6. To assemble the lasagna, spread a thin layer of the tomato sauce over the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place 3 lasagna noodles on top of the sauce.

7. Spread a layer of the cheese mixture over the noodles, then top with another layer of sauce. Repeat this process until all of the ingredients have been used, finishing with a layer of sauce. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese over the top.

8. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

9. Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
