Kanye's DONDA listening party in Chicago featured Marilyn Manson and DaBaby, and an insider explained that the rapper knows exactly what he's doing by inviting such controversial figures on stage.

"He knows that having controversial figures around will be provocative and will get people to talking," the source told PEOPLE.

Several women have accused Marilyn of sexual abuse, and DaBaby has been demonized for homophobic remarks recently.

Kanye knows that there will be backlash because people are upset and shocked, the source added.

"He also knows that people are talking about it today when they wouldn't have been otherwise," the source noted.

On top of appearing with Kanye on stage, Marilyn is also featured on his album DONDA, and the two will collaborate on the forthcoming record.
