Rapper Grand Daddy I.U., known for his debut album "Smooth Assassin," has died at the age of 54.

His representative, Raya, confirmed the news on Tuesday via a statement on her Instagram. She wrote, "No, I am not okay. I'm devastated."

"Anyone who really knows me knows how much pure love and respect I had for him and out of respect for him and his family, I'm staying quiet right now," she added.

Grand Daddy I.U., real name Ayub Bey, was a prominent figure in the East Coast hip hop scene, gaining fame with his debut album "Smooth Assassin" in 1990. The album was well-received by critics and fans alike, and spawned the hit single "Something New."
