On March 14, 2024, Oprah Winfrey expressed her appreciation to GLAAD for recognizing her with the Vanguard Award.

Taking to her official Instagram account, the host of The Oprah Winfrey Show shared a collection of images and videos from the ceremony.

In her caption, Winfrey reflected on her career's early days, expressing her desire to provide a welcoming space for LGBTQ+ individuals to share their stories, whether through television, magazines, or conversations.

One of the videos showcased Winfrey delivering her acceptance speech, where she expressed gratitude to GLAAD for the award and reiterated her steadfast support for the LGBTQ community.

Winfrey's caption continued with a sentiment of inclusivity, stating that everyone deserves the freedom to love who they love and to embrace their true selves. She thanked GLAAD for their vital work and for honoring her with the Vanguard Award.

The heartfelt note also included a dedication to Winfrey's late brother, Jeffrey Lee, who would have appreciated the progress towards acceptance in today's society.
