Brad Pitt's Candid Confession: "I Was Pretty Much On My Back, Knees" – A Raw Look Into His Battle with Alcoholism

Hollywood icon Brad Pitt has once again candidly opened up about his past struggles with alcoholism, offering a raw and unflinching look into the depths of his addiction and the painstaking journey toward sobriety.

In a recent, deeply personal conversation on the "Armchair Expert" podcast with fellow actor and recovery advocate Dax Shepard, Pitt revealed the profound vulnerability he experienced, stating he was "pretty much on my back, [on my] knees."

This striking confession underscores the severity of the period in his life, particularly following his highly publicized divorce from Angelina Jolie in 2016.

Pitt has previously spoken about his decision to get sober in the wake of the marital breakdown, telling The New York Times in 2019 that he "had taken things as far as I could take them, so I removed my drinking privileges."

On the podcast, Pitt elaborated on his early experiences with Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), which he joined in 2016. He admitted to feeling initially shy and hesitant but found immense solace and strength in the honesty and camaraderie of the group.

"I was really open," he recalled. "I was trying anything and everyone. Anything anyone threw at me. It was a difficult time. I needed rebooting. I needed to wake the f*** up in some areas."

He praised the "incredible" experience of men sharing their "foibles, their missteps, their wants, their aches, and a lot of humor with it."

The actor, known for his roles in films like "Fight Club" and "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," also reflected on his upbringing in Missouri, where emotional suppression was the norm.

This background, he suggested, made the raw honesty of AA particularly impactful. Pitt credits the program and therapy for helping him confront what he termed the "ugly sides" of himself, an experience he found surprisingly freeing.

He emphasized his commitment to taking responsibility and holding himself accountable, striving to "be better, step up."

His sobriety journey has been a testament to resilience, a path he embraced amidst intense public scrutiny.

Pitt has also publicly acknowledged the support he received from peers, famously thanking Bradley Cooper in 2020 for helping him get sober, stating, "Every day has been happier ever since."

Pitt's frankness serves as a powerful reminder that addiction can affect anyone, regardless of their status or apparent success.

His story highlights the courage it takes to confront personal demons and seek help, paving the way for profound personal growth and transformation.
