Lindsay Lohan, the beloved actress known for her iconic roles in The Parent Trap and Mean Girls, has candidly shared the reasons why she finds life in Los Angeles "hard" and often "stressful."
The star, who has largely relocated to Dubai with her husband Bader Shammas and their son, Luai, expressed her preference for privacy and peace away from the relentless spotlight of Hollywood.
In a recent interview with Elle, Lohan detailed the anxieties she faces even with simple everyday tasks in L.A.
"It's hard in L.A.," she explained to Saturday Night Live's Chloe Fineman. "Even taking my son to the park, I get stressed. I'm like, 'Are there cameras?'"
This constant scrutiny contrasts sharply with her experience in other cities.
Lohan drew a clear distinction between the energy of Los Angeles and New York City, where she was born and raised.
"In New York, there's no worry, no one bothers us. Everyone has their own thing going on," she remarked. "There's a different kind of energy in New York. I'd rather have downtime [there] than I would in L.A."
However, it's Dubai that truly offers Lohan the sanctuary she seeks for her growing family.
"The funny thing is, in Dubai I get all of those things," she revealed. "I get the privacy; I get the space. I don't have to worry there. I feel safe."
This sense of security and anonymity is a significant factor in her decision to make Dubai her primary residence since 2014, a place where she also met her husband in 2019.
While Lohan is currently busy filming the highly anticipated sequel to Freaky Friday, titled Freakier Friday, alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, her professional commitments in Hollywood are balanced with her desire for a stable and private family life.
The actress, who welcomed her son Luai in July 2023, prioritizes creating a normal routine for him away from the intense media attention she experienced throughout much of her earlier career.
Her journey has been one of significant personal growth, moving past the well-documented challenges of her past.
Lohan has openly stated she lives "without regrets," viewing past experiences as lessons learned.
This renewed focus on family and a more serene lifestyle appears to be central to her current happiness and well-being.
