Sam Asghari, the ex-husband of pop superstar Britney Spears, has offered a sharp-tongued reaction to Kevin Federline's forthcoming memoir, "You Thought You Knew."
Federline, who was married to Spears from 2004 to 2007 and shares two sons with her, recently announced his book, which promises to reveal "extremely intimate and transparent" details about their highly publicized marriage.
In a recent encounter with TMZ, Asghari didn't mince words when asked for his opinion on the book.
With a sarcastic tone, he quipped, "Well, he was a professional father, so it would be the first book that'll tell you how to be a professional father."
The comment is widely seen as a jab at the long-running child support payments Federline received from Spears, which only recently concluded after their youngest son, Jayden James, turned 18.
Federline's book, set to be released on October 21, is described as a "deeply personal and emotionally grounded" account of his life.
According to a press release, it will cover his journey from a dancer to a public figure, a father, and his experiences navigating fame and heartbreak.
Federline himself stated that the book will provide answers to questions about "one of pop culture's most misunderstood figures."
This isn't the first time Asghari has publicly weighed in on his ex-wife's past.
He has previously come to Spears's defense on social media, especially during contentious moments related to her conservatorship and her relationship with her sons.
In one instance, he wrote that the "trauma and insults" of fame affect not only Spears but her children, and called out Federline's "loyalty" to Jamie Spears, Britney's father and former conservator.
Asghari and Spears were married from 2022 to 2023, with their divorce being finalized in May 2024.
The comments from Asghari come after Spears herself released a memoir, "The Woman in Me," in 2023, which offered her own perspective on her life, career, and relationships.
Considering the history of public statements and tell-alls, do you believe these memoirs offer a genuine look into a celebrity's life or are they simply a way to capitalize on past relationships?
