Pop star and talk show host Kelly Clarkson is being called the "Duchess of Christmas," but she is making sure to give the ultimate respect to her idol, Mariah Carey!
Clarkson, who has two successful Christmas albums and many holiday hits like "Underneath the Tree," is often seen as a top holiday artist today.
She recently accepted the new "Duchess" title, but quickly said that the true Queen is already in place.
"Mariah is the Queen. She paved the way for us really," Clarkson said.
She has often praised Mariah Carey for making Christmas music popular again, especially with the huge success of "All I Want For Christmas Is You."
Clarkson said that Mariah proved to the music world how big and important original Christmas songs can be, which opened the door for many artists who came after her.
