Beyoncé Drops Big B'Day Deluxe Album But Struggles On Apple Music Charts

Pop superstar Beyoncé recently celebrated her 45th birthday by releasing a massive 31-track deluxe edition of her classic sophomore album, B'Day, for its 20th anniversary.

The new project comes packed with old favorites, newly remastered videos, rare vault finds, and fresh collaborations with artists like Pharrell Williams and Maluma.

Even though the release generated a lot of buzz online and climbed high up on the iTunes album charts, it faced a rocky start on streaming platforms.

Initially, people noticed that tracks from the expanded collection were missing from the main Global and U.S. Apple Music song charts, sparking online debates about whether older anniversary drops still carry the same heavy commercial weight today.

However, the tides quickly turned for the BeyHive. As fans rushed to streaming services to hear the rare outtakes—including deep cuts like "Creole" and special remixes featuring the late Tejano icon Selena Quintanilla—the B'Day 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition bounced back, landing strongly on the U.S. Apple Music album charts.

Music critics note that anniversary reissues serve a very specific purpose. Instead of trying to dominate modern daily radio singles or competing with brand-new trap and hip-hop hits, these drops act as collector items and digital time capsules for loyal fans.

Even with physical items like high-end vinyl boxes commanding steep prices, the true goal is often catalog preservation rather than chasing a fast-paced singles chart.
