Shawn Mendes recently took to social media to confirm that he will release "Wonder," a single with an accompanying music video, on October 2 ahead of his fourth studio album of the same name, set to drop later this year.

Meanwhile, in the letter he posted to Instagram and Twitter, the 22-year-old also explained the process of writing the new album.

Mendes' post reads: "It really feels like a piece of me has been written down on paper and recorded into song."

"I tried to be as real and as honest as I've ever been," he added. "It's a world and a journey and a dream and an album I've been wanting to make for a really long time."

"Wonder" will be the most recent in a series of projects by the singer. His three previous number one albums are certified platinum. Mendes also has four songs on Spotify that have been streamed over a billion.

Since July 2019, Mendes has been dating Cuban-American singer Camila Cabello. But their relationship has sparked controversy, as both were accused of attempting to form a relationship for publicity.

However, the Canadian singer and songwriter, who has received several nominations and awards, insisted it is "definitely not a publicity stunt."
