Over two months after Blackpink's music video "Ice Cream" with Selena Gomez was released on August 28, YG Entertainment announced that the music video surpassed 400 million views.

It became their eighth music video to surpass the said number following "How You Like That," "Kill This Love," "Whistle," "Playing With Fire," "As If It's Your Last," "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du," and "Boombayah."

Meanwhile, Blackpink released their long-awaited debut album, appropriately titled "The Album," on October 2. The K-pop superstars lifted the veil on the highly anticipated collaboration with acclaimed rapper Cardi B among a handful of other songs.

"The Album" contains eight songs led by the single "Lovesick Girls." It has a range of styles and sounds. Before releasing "The Album," BLACKPINK released a Japanese album called "Blackpink in Your Area," in 2018, on top of four EPs that launched them to global stardom.
