Song Yoo-jung's Death is Yet Another Tragedy in South Korea's Entertainment Industry


The death of Song is the latest in an unfortunate string of tragedies that have afflicted South Korea's entertainment industry in recent years.

South Korean model-actress Song Yoo-jung, who was 26 years old, passed away this weekend.

Sublime Artist Agency, the management company of Song, has confirmed she died on January 23. No cause of death has been disclosed, but various outlets have reported that she was discovered dead in Seoul.

According to the agency, the funeral took place quietly, and the procession took place on January 25, following the wishes of the family.

The agency noted that Song had always been a good friend who put a smile on their faces, and she was an excellent actress who acted with passion. They called for prayer for Song's peace so she can rest in a warm place.



Song made her cinematic debut in 2013 with "Golden Rainbow," before gaining roles in "Make a Wish," "School 2017," and "Dear My Name."

The star has taken part in campaigns for the Body Shop, Baskin-Robins, and Estée Lauder and starred in music videos for K-pop group iKON.

Meanwhile, the death of Song is the latest in an unfortunate string of tragedies that have afflicted South Korea's entertainment industry in recent years.

In 2020, actress Oh In-hye died at 36 and TST member Yohan at 28. Likewise, singers Goo Hara and Sulli died of suicide in 2019, as well as SHINee's Jonghyun in 2017.
