Britney Spears has responded to comments made by her sister Jamie Lynn Spears, who said it was "hard" to be her sister due to Britney's success.

In an Instagram post on Friday, Britney reminded Jamie Lynn of the difficult times she faced while under a conservatorship that gave her family control over her career and finances from 2008 until 2021.

Britney said that during this time, she was not allowed to go into a spa with her childhood friends, and added that she has "learned from the BEST" to not set aside her own self care for others. She also mentioned that she was not able to own her own name for over a decade.

Britney has been estranged from her family since the conservatorship ended and said she would rather "trash" her former friends on Instagram than share their actions on TV.

The singer also revealed that she suffers from nerve damage on the right side of her body, which causes numbness every night. Britney said that while she was "never a big deal," she lost 15 years of her life and was subjected to being an "angel" while her father had other women on his tour bus.

In earlier comments, Jamie Lynn said she was proud of Britney but sometimes felt like she didn't have anything for herself and struggled with self-esteem.
