At least 10 people were killed and 10 more injured in a shooting at a ballroom dance venue in Monterey Park, California on Saturday night.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is currently searching for the gunman and the FBI and other law enforcement agencies are involved in the investigation, as reported by The New York Times.

The shooting occurred on West Garvey Avenue, which had earlier hosted a festival celebrating the eve of the Lunar New Year, a major holiday in many Asian communities.

It is currently unclear if the shooting was racially motivated, but authorities are investigating the possibility of a hate crime.
