The verdict is in, and it's a shocking one. R. Kelly, the notorious musician behind chart-topping hits, is facing a lifetime behind bars as he serves 30 years in prison for sex crimes and awaits sentencing for another similar conviction.

The winds of change were blowing, however, as the Chicago prosecutors announced a stunning drop of charges in a third set of sex abuse allegations against Kelly.

While this may have come as a glimmer of hope to some of his supporters, the singer's rep, attorney Jennifer Bonjean, is far from popping the champagne.

Despite a previous plea to accusers to come forward and help with the pursuit of sex abuse charges, Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx has now announced her disinterest in pursuing the case, as Kelly's other convictions make it likely he will never see the light of day again.

Bonjean took to TMZ to share the news, and it's not a reprieve for the troubled artist. “There is no real sense of relief. He is still fighting for his life. He is facing decades in prison,” said Bonjean, adding that Foxx made the right move in her decision.

As Kelly awaits sentencing on February 23rd in a Chicago federal court, another dark cloud hangs over him in the form of a pending sexual misconduct case in Hennepin County, Minnesota.
