Harry Styles has responded to recent social media speculation after he inadvertently caused rumors of a One Direction reunion.

During his sold-out concert on March 7 at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland, the singer explained that he had posted a photo of himself wearing an old One Direction T-shirt by "accident" after taking it for "himself."

The post led to widespread fan speculation, although it is unclear whether Styles had intended to send it only to his Instagram close friends.

Despite deleting the post, fans were quick to screenshot and circulate the picture, with hashtags related to the incident trending across various social media platforms.

The snapshot in question featured Styles wearing a T-shirt from One Direction's "Up All Night" tour in 2012, with the picture seemingly taken from a gym as he wore short pants and yellow sneakers.

This follows on from Styles' previous acknowledgment of his gratitude to One Direction during his acceptance speech at the BRIT Awards last month, where he thanked the group's other members, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik, for their role in his success.

One Direction originally formed in 2010 after the five members met as contestants on the reality television series "The X Factor."

After the departure of Malik in 2015, the remaining members of the band announced that they would be taking an extended hiatus beginning in 2016, before eventually dissolving and pursuing solo careers.
