According to a report by The Sun, Meghan Markle has hired Katie McCormick Lelyveld’s PR company, the former press chief of Michelle Obama, which has sparked speculation about the Duchess of Sussex's possible political aspirations.

Archewell Foundation paid almost £90,000 to the company for "strategic support for social impact PR" in 2021, as per tax returns for Archewell.

Lelyveld's PR company claims to have decades of experience with influential leaders and provides services to navigate challenges with reputational, political, philanthropic, legal, and financial aspects.

The former press secretary of Michelle Obama has high-level connections to the Democrats as she has also worked for Hillary Clinton and former presidential candidate John Kerry.

The report further notes that Meghan's political interests were evident in her secret meeting with US presidential contender Gavin Newsom in 2020, and her cold-calling of US senators in 2021 to press them over a law for paid family leave.

Senator Shelley Capito, a Republican, expressed surprise and confusion over the Duchess of Sussex's personal call. According to Meghan's friend and biographer, Omid Scobie, the former actress aspires to be the President of the United States.
