Despite uncertainty surrounding Britney Spears' future in the music industry, the pop icon continues to make waves on the Billboard charts. This week, Spears claims the No. 1 spot on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart with her song "Selfish," originally released over a decade ago.

"Selfish" sold nearly 9,700 copies in the past tracking frame, according to Luminate, securing its first trip to the summit of the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart. This marks Spears' fifth No. 1 hit on the chart and adds to her impressive tally of 13 top 10s.

The resurgence of "Selfish" can be attributed in part to a recent release from Spears' ex-boyfriend, Justin Timberlake, who coincidentally dropped a single with the same title. Fans of Spears seized the opportunity to support her by downloading "Selfish," leading to a surge in popularity for the track.

Not only does "Selfish" dominate the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart, but it also makes a notable debut on the all-genre Digital Song Sales chart, landing at No. 5. Interestingly, Spears finds herself just one spot behind Timberlake's "Selfish," which climbs to No. 4.

While Spears' musical future remains uncertain, her enduring influence and chart-topping success serve as a reminder of her lasting impact on the music industry.
