TikTok Star Executed Live: Valeria Márquez's Murder Sparks Outrage in Mexico

Valeria Márquez, a 23-year-old Mexican beauty influencer with approximately 200,000 followers on TikTok and Instagram, was fatally shot during a livestream at her salon, Blossom The Beauty Lounge, in Zapopan, Jalisco.

Moments before the attack, Márquez expressed unease about a recent visitor who had brought her an "expensive gift."

During the livestream, she was seen holding a stuffed animal and a coffee cup when a man entered the salon and shot her in the head and chest.

Authorities are investigating the murder as a femicide and suspect it was a targeted killing by a hired hitman.

The incident has intensified concerns over gender-based violence in Mexico, where approximately 10 women are murdered daily.

Unconfirmed reports suggest a possible connection between Márquez and a senior figure in the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, though no official evidence has been presented.

What do you think?

Should social media platforms implement stricter measures to protect influencers from targeted violence?
