Katy Perry has been planning another big year after a life-changing 2020. The pop superstar's newest venture is one very close to her heart.

Pokémon's 25th anniversary will be marked with a music program by Perry, 36, in partnership with Universal Music Group.

While details are not yet publicized, P25 Music will have surprise activations across the world throughout the year.

Meanwhile, in an interview with PEOPLE, the "Dark Horse" singer said she enjoys working on playful projects that are good stories and have great messages to share.

Perry, who is now a doting mother to Daisy, said she understands how essential it is to play. This is a continuation of her personality, she added.

The multi-awarded artist visited The Pokémon Café while in Japan in 2019, and she described the experience as "amazing."

Perry said that growing up, when she was playing Pokémon, she connected with Pikachu the most.

"I understand the story of Pikachu," she explained. "On the surface, you might just think I'm just cute, have a couple of cute songs. But if you dig deeper, you'll realize 'Chained to the Rhythm' is not just a fun little song!"

Perry hoped her new partnership would provide children, and even adults, something to look forward to in 2021.
