On Saturday, the singer took to Instagram to announce the release of a new single called "Unforgettable (Tommy's Song)."

Along with a snippet of the song, Demi wrote, "Two years ago I lost someone who meant so much to me. His name was Tommy and he was such a beautiful, special man."

Specifically, Demi mentioned they wrote the song the day after they learned Thomas had lost his battle with addiction. The disease has a cunning and powerful nature, added the singer.

Apparently, Demi will donate the net proceeds of the song to The Voices Project, which seeks to end America's addiction crisis.

Those with addictions may also contact the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's treatment helpline at 1-800-662-HELP, the singer noted. In closing, Demi tagged their late friend and wrote, "I love you @sirtruss."

Immediately following Thomas's death, Demi – who has been open about their own struggles with addiction – posted on social media to express their grief.
