BTS Jin Begins His Mandatory Military Service


The singer joined boot camp with about 200 fellow conscripts, many of them are younger than him.

South Korean star Jin of the wildly popular boy band BTS has begun his mandatory military service.

According to Jin's agency, HYBE, he was driven directly into the military base, without stopping for a send-off, to prevent any accidents from occurring.

It's usual for recruits and their families to exchange emotional goodbyes on enrollment day. The singer joined boot camp with about 200 fellow conscripts, many of them are younger than him.

Jin is the first member of BTS to begin his military service, with the other members set to enlist in the coming years.

South Korea requires all men between 18 and 28 years of age to serve 18 months in its armed forces, but high-profile K-pop stars like Jin can defer their service until they are 30 years of age.

BTS has become one of the biggest bands in the world, with a devoted global fanbase and a string of chart-topping hits.

The band's members are known for their close bond and their dedication to their fans, and Jin's military service is expected to only strengthen that bond.
