A Japanese man, Toco, is living his dream of becoming a dog after spending thousands of dollars and months of training.

He commissioned a model and sculpture company, Zeppet, to create a realistic collie costume for him in 2022 and spent 40 days and 2 million yen ($15,700 USD) to have it made.

Toco then began training to behave like a real dog and documented the process on his YouTube channel.

He states that becoming an animal was his childhood fantasy and enjoys "doing things that only dogs do."

However, he expresses worries about the opinions of others and rarely tells his friends due to fear of being judged.

The concept of wanting to dress up in an animal costume, known as "fursonas", is not new and there are conventions where people gather to meet each other.

Toco has found support in his online community who leave supportive comments.
