Rihanna Pays Tribute to Beyoncé in Super Bowl Performance

The event took place on February 12, 2023 in Glendale, Arizona, where the Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Rihanna's performance served as entertainment for the audience ten years after Beyoncé's performance in the 2013 event in New Orleans, Louisiana, and seven years after her performance with Coldplay at Super Bowl 50 in California.

In an interview with "The Process With Nate Burleson" podcast, which aired on February 12, Rihanna stated, "I watched Beyoncé's halftime performances a couple of times. She is a beast and a whole other level." The singer added that she viewed the performances "just to be inspired, really."

Beyoncé's first Super Bowl performance was notable for her collaboration with her former Destiny's Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams (II). She returned to the event three years later for Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, California, where she performed alongside Coldplay and Bruno Mars.

Rihanna's performance at this year's Super Bowl marked her return to the stage since becoming a mother to her son in May 2022. During her performance, she confirmed her pregnancy with her second child with rapper A$AP Rocky by showcasing her baby bump.

The singer acknowledged the difficulty in deciding on a set list during a pre-Super Bowl press conference, stating, "That was the hardest, hardest part. Deciding how to maximize 13 minutes, but also celebrate... you're going to see on Sunday, just from the time it starts, it never ends, until it's like the very last second.
