In a shocking and devastating incident captured on video, two individuals have lost their lives in a terrifying lightning strike on a beach in Michoacán, Mexico.

The calamity unfolded on a fateful Monday, as an ominous storm swept across the Pacific coast, according to TMZ.

The harrowing footage shows the ominous turn of events as a beachgoer hurriedly packs up an umbrella just moments before disaster strikes.

A bolt of lightning suddenly descends, striking the first victim and leaving onlookers in sheer terror.

What's even more bone-chilling is that the lightning seems to snake its way across the sand, targeting a second person who also collapses, further intensifying the horror.

Spanish news outlet MARCA reports that the victims, a man, and a woman, fell prey to this horrifying act of nature. One of them was a tourist, while the other was a vendor of hammocks.

Tragically, the woman lost her life instantly at the scene, while the man, despite heroic efforts at the hospital, succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

The odds of being struck by lightning are incredibly rare, estimated at just 1 in 15,300. Yet, this incident serves as a grim reminder of the unpredictable and deadly forces of nature.

Approximately 2,000 people are struck by lightning worldwide each year, with a chilling 10% of them meeting a tragic end.

The remaining 90% often grapple with severe long-term effects, including memory loss and seizures, serving as a haunting testament to the destructive power of lightning.

Our hearts go out to the victims' families, and this unnerving incident serves as a stark warning of the unpredictability of nature's wrath.
