A man recently found out that his son is gay. However, nothing has changed in the way he looked at him.

"I love him regardless of which gender he loves," the doting father wrote on Reddit. He admitted having flings with men when he was slightly older than his child, so he's completely supportive.

However, his son, who is 13 years old, seems depressed, according to him. He wrote, "He has seemed slightly down recently, as in, he isn't as cheerful as he once was."

The father added that he desperately wished he could tell his son that he loves him regardless of sexual orientation.

He discovered that his son is gay after the latter borrowed his iPad. The youngster forgot to erase his browser history.

"A lot of the search terms were along the lines of 'I'm gay what?'" the father wrote, adding that he has no idea what to do.

"What are my options? Should I wait for him to tell me? Or should I make a few hints at it? I'm worried that if I don't hint at it, that he will be worried about something that he really doesn't have to be worried about," he continued.

One Reddit user, who admitted he is gay, encouraged the father to wait for his son to come out and respect him. "Don't do anything that will seem forced. Just be yourself. You already sound like an awesome dad and once he realizes you are okay with it, he will come out," he wrote.

Another user shared, "My dad did something similar to this so it could totally work. My dad wasn't really comfortable 'talking' about it when I first told him, but a few months later when I woke up one day when had gone to work and sat at my desk, there was a paper open to a sports article with the headline 'My son's gay. Not that it matters to me.' Definitely wasn't unintentional. Always appreciated that from him."
