In a captivating cover story for WSJ. Magazine’s December/January issue, NFL sensation Travis Kelce, 34, delves into the intricacies of how his enchanting connection with global pop sensation Taylor Swift first ignited, sparing no details in the process.

Kelce, known for his prowess on the football field, candidly shared the genesis of their relationship during the wide-ranging interview. Reflecting on his initial attempt to meet Swift at her Eras Tour show in July, Kelce revealed, “There were definitely people she knew that knew who I was, in her corner [who said]: Yo! Did you know he was coming? I had somebody playing Cupid." The NFL star admitted to learning these details directly from Swift herself.

In a surprising twist, members of the Swift family played a role in capturing Kelce's attention. Recounting an amusing incident, Kelce shared, “She’ll probably hate me for saying this, but...when she came to Arrowhead, they gave her the big locker room as a dressing room, and her little cousins were taking pictures...in front of my locker."

The interview also shed light on their first encounter in New York. Kelce remarked, “When I met her in New York, we had already kind of been talking, so I knew we could have a nice dinner and, like, a conversation, and what goes from there will go from there."

As the conversation with journalist J.R. Moehringer unfolded, Kelce opened up about his relationship with his brother Jason and his mother Donna's sentiments toward Swift. He expressed admiration for Swift's unique aura, acknowledging, “I’ve never dated anyone with that kind of aura about them." Kelce, however, affirmed his commitment to embracing the spotlight surrounding Swift, acknowledging the constant scrutiny she faces.

Describing Swift as both “hilarious" and “a genius," Kelce highlighted the alignment of their values, particularly in the realm of family and work. “Everybody knows I’m a family guy,” he shared. “Her team is her family. Her family does a lot of stuff in terms of the tour, the marketing, being around, so I think she has a lot of those values as well, which is right up my alley.”

Readers can explore the full interview in WSJ. Magazine’s December/January Issue, hitting newsstands on Dec. 9.
