Watch: Prince Harry Shows Respect to King Charles with a Bow at the Coronation Ceremony

Prince Harry was among the members of the royal family who paid homage to the newly crowned King Charles during the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey on Saturday.

The Duke of Sussex was seen bowing his head for about five seconds as King Charles, 74, passed by him.

Other members of the royal family also showed their respect by bowing or curtsying to the King during the ceremony.


Common Royal Protocol

It is common royal protocol for members of the royal family to bow or curtsy while greeting each other.

Prince Harry attended the ceremony with his cousins Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice and their husbands.

Although he did not interact with his father or brother, Prince William, who had a key role in the service, he was seen smiling throughout the event.


Positive Reception of Prince Harry's Attendance

Despite not having a public relationship with his father or brother, Prince Harry's attendance at the coronation was positively received.

According to Colleen Harris, a former press secretary to the King and his sons, Prince Harry would have personally regretted not supporting his father at the event, PEOPLE reported.

Buckingham Palace had announced in April that Prince Harry would attend the coronation ceremony solo.

Prince Harry's wife, Meghan Markle, did not attend the ceremony, and instead stayed in California with their two children, 23-month-old daughter Princess Lilibet and son Prince Archie, who celebrated his fourth birthday on the same day as the coronation.
